My Visit to Lenore!

On December 26, 2008 (just before heading up to Ottawa), I had the wonderful opportunity of stopping by to Belleville, Ontario for a night with the esteemed and wonderful Lenore Dixon! She is a friend of Lesotho and I have known her since I purchased her debut album (The Greenleaf Variations) off the Help Lesotho website over a year ago. What intrigues me so much about her, is not only do we have a strong concern and love for the Basotho people, we also absolutely love Starbucks coffee!

Yes, I did just mention Starbucks coffee. She partially helps me fuel my coffee crave and is a friend who consistently gives me a NEW Starbucks card every time I see her. That is besides the point though.

Our main and strongest connections are through music and Lesotho. Lenore is my Best Lesotho Friend I have ever had. It is with her, we have had long conversations on our involvement with the project and how both of our lives have changed through Help Lesotho. She has also helped me come to understanding with who I am, so the fact we are close friends is wonderful. She is one of the oldest friends I have, so I do consider her a proper role model!

On my visit, we went to a Lesotho potluck event at her friend's house, which was a nice time. Afterwards, we went around Belleville seeing what she does for a living and what her life basically revolves around. The time I had with Lenore was fabulous. She is just a wonderful 'family' friend to have.

She allowed me to stay the night at her honourary Lesotho 'Guest Room'. I would definately call Lenore one of my closest friends. After talking hours about her trip to Europe, Lesotho, and all that jazz, we concluded the visit on Saturday morning (bright and early before taking the train to Ottawa) to have our wonderful and long-awaited coffee date at the Belleville Starbucks. I left Belleville with good feelings. I hope to return again.

Speaking of Lenore, she still sells CDs. For more information, check out the Help Lesotho website www.helplesotho.ca
Also, she can be contacted by email: lenoredixon@sympatico.ca
You can also ask me for a sample of her music to listen, either on my iPod or by borrowing my CD of hers. She is a wonderful musician! I think you will like her music.

By the way, first post of 2009! I will write more tomorrow.

Keep you updated.

William (Rethabile)
